is seeking a full-time, highly motivated, and detail-oriented Data Engineer to join the Enterprise Data & Insights (ED&I) team! The primary mission of the Enterprise Data & Insights team is to empower and enable every Sinclair stakeholder with the trusted, accessible data needed and desired to operate a modern, world-class media company by connecting, democratizing, and managing data to enable transformative insights and data-led decision making.
Sinclair uses industry-leading data management tools and processes, both cloud-based and on-premises.
As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, optimizing, and supporting data engineering solutions that enable seamless data flow across various systems and platforms, specifically Sinclair's operational MDM platform.
Responsibilities include:
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and design optimal data solutions.
Work with architects to identify and implement engineering standards and best practices.
Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using industry-leading tools such as Boomi, ensuring the smooth movement of data across systems.
Design, implement, and manage data models that cater to business needs while ensuring data integrity and quality.
Perform data transformations to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability of data for analysis.
Ensure data quality and consistency during integration by implementing data validation and cleansing procedures.
Integrate data from various sources, including on-premises and cloud-based systems, utilizing AWS and Azure cloud services.
Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance, identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner.
Collaborate across teams to ensure proper deployment and maintenance of data pipelines in a cloud environment.
Troubleshoot and resolve data integration issues, working closely with technical teams to identify root causes and implement solutions.
Document data integration processes, workflows, and best practices for reference and training purposes.
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices in data engineering and cloud technologies.
The preferred candidate will have:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field 5
years of experience in a data engineering role Strong understanding of data engineering concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration.
Strong understanding of SQL.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, including services like S3, Redshift, Data Lake Storage, and Azure SQL Database.
Proficiency in ETL/ELT tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory and Amazon Data Pipeline Experience developing data integrations and working with integration platforms.
Boomi experience is highly preferred.
Basic understanding of programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
Experience using data reporting and visualization tools (e.
g.
Cognos, SSRS, Qlik, Data Studio, Power BI, Tableau, etc.
).
Familiarity with data modeling and database design principles.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities within a cross-functional team environment.
A passion for learning and staying updated on emerging technologies in the data engineering and cloud space.
Experience in modern cloud data management platforms such as Snowflake is a huge plus.
